Tanzanian socialite Poshy Queen has sparked debate after sharing alleged Instagram messages she says were sent by late Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

Tanzanian socialite and beauty entrepreneur Poshy Queen has sparked widespread discussion online after sharing what she claims are private Instagram messages sent to her by late Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

The video emerged just days after Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke, died in a helicopter crash in Zimbabwe on 30 September 2026. Chivayo's death was confirmed by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, while authorities continue investigating the cause of the crash.

Poshy Queen reveals alleged messages

In footage circulating online on Tuesday, 6 October, Poshy Queen showed what she said were Instagram direct messages from Chivayo.

The alleged conversation reportedly stretches back several years, with some messages dating to May 2019.

According to footage described by multiple publications, the messages included compliments and apparent attempts to start a conversation with the Tanzanian socialite. Poshy Queen claimed that she did not respond to the approaches.

The authenticity and complete context of the messages have not been independently verified, making it important to treat the social media claims with caution.

Timing of disclosure sparks debate

Much of the reaction online has focused not only on the alleged messages but also on Poshy Queen's decision to reveal them shortly after Chivayo's death.

Some social media users questioned why private messages would be made public after the businessman was no longer alive to respond, while the disclosure has also generated broader discussion around privacy and the publication of private conversations involving deceased public figures.

Chivayo died in helicopter crash

Chivayo was one of Zimbabwe's best-known businessmen and was known publicly for his lavish lifestyle, expensive gifts and relationships with prominent figures across Africa.

He and his wife, Lucy Muteke, died after a private helicopter crashed near Marondera, east of Harare, on 30 September.

There was initial confusion over the number of people aboard the aircraft. Zimbabwean police subsequently revised the official death toll to five, identifying Chivayo, Muteke, her aide Senelisiwe Magagula and pilots Kelvin Soda and Courage Mutavirwa as the victims.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe is investigating the accident. Preliminary information indicated that fuel spilled following impact and a fire broke out, but authorities had not established the cause of the crash at the time of reporting.

Social media discussion continues

The emergence of the alleged messages has added another layer of public attention surrounding Chivayo following his sudden death.

However, without independent verification of the messages, the claims circulating online should be treated as allegations rather than established facts.
