American music producer and international entertainment personality DJ Khaled has attracted attention in South Africa after sharing a social media tribute celebrating the country.

The Grammy-winning producer appeared in a photograph alongside South Africa's Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, in a moment that gained coverage in the country's celebrity news.

DJ Khaled Shows Love to South Africa

According to a report published by The South African on 7 October 2026, Khaled expressed his appreciation for Mzansi with a message referencing his well-known motivational catchphrase.

The tribute included the words:

“They didn't believe in us South Africa did!”

The message reflects Khaled's enthusiastic public persona and his connection with audiences around the world.

Gayton McKenzie Appears in the Spotlight

The photograph featuring DJ Khaled and Gayton McKenzie also drew attention because of the minister's role in South Africa's arts, culture and entertainment sectors.

The appearance brings together an internationally recognised music personality and a prominent South African public official.

However, the reported photograph and tribute do not, on their own, establish that a new music collaboration, concert or official cultural partnership has been announced.

South Africa's Growing Cultural Visibility

South African music and entertainment continue to attract international attention, with local sounds such as amapiano gaining recognition beyond the country's borders.

International artists engaging with South African culture can bring additional attention to the country's creative industry.

For local music fans, DJ Khaled's message represents another moment of international recognition for Mzansi.

What Happens Next?

While the tribute has attracted entertainment coverage, no specific new musical project between DJ Khaled and South African artists was confirmed in the report.

Fans will be watching for any further announcements from the producer.

SA360 NEWS will continue covering South African entertainment, celebrity news and developments in the local music industry.
