Wicknell Chivayo’s $4.3 Million Luxury Watch Video Resurfaces After His Death, Sparking Payment Questions
A video showing late Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo during a multimillion-dollar shopping visit to luxury watchmaker Jacob & Co has resurfaced online following his death, triggering fresh discussion about the payment arrangement behind his expensive collection.
Chivayo visited Jacob & Co in Geneva, Switzerland, in July 2026, where he was hosted by the company's founder, Jacob Arabo.
The businessman publicly described the collection of watches from the visit as being worth approximately US$4.3 million. A surviving post on Chivayo's LinkedIn account also references that figure.
Chivayo's $4.3 million watch collection
During the visit, several high-end Jacob & Co timepieces were presented to Chivayo.
Among the watches associated with the purchase was a Billionaire Double Tourbillon, reported to be valued at around US$3.4 million, alongside other highly exclusive pieces.
The video shows Chivayo enthusiastically examining the collection while discussing future purchases with Jacob Arabo.
But one part of their conversation has attracted renewed attention following the Zimbabwean businessman's death.
Payment comment sparks questions
In the resurfaced footage, Arabo can be heard discussing another possible watch with Chivayo and referring to him finishing payment on his existing purchases before they could discuss the next piece a few months later.
That comment has led some social media users to claim that Chivayo had not fully paid for the watches at the time of his death.
However, there is an important distinction.
Jacob & Co has not publicly confirmed that Chivayo died owing the company money, and the available video does not establish what his payment status was by the time of his death on 30 September.
Claims that an outstanding balance remained should therefore be treated as unverified speculation, rather than established fact.
Jacob & Co posts reportedly disappear
The debate intensified after social media content featuring Chivayo reportedly disappeared from Jacob & Co's Instagram account following his death.
The company had previously showcased his visit and multimillion-dollar watch purchases.
However, Jacob & Co has not publicly explained why the posts were removed, meaning there is no confirmed connection between their disappearance and speculation surrounding payments.
Chivayo was known for his extravagant lifestyle
Luxury watches formed part of the public image Chivayo cultivated.
He regularly displayed expensive cars, designer items, private aircraft and multimillion-dollar gifts on social media, making his lifestyle widely discussed in Zimbabwe and elsewhere in Africa.
His relationship with Jacob & Co attracted particular attention because of the extraordinary value of the watches associated with his Geneva visit.
Chivayo died in helicopter crash
Chivayo died on 30 September 2026 when a helicopter crashed in Zimbabwe.
His death was officially confirmed the following day by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Chivayo's wife, Lucy Muteke, was also among those killed in the crash. Authorities have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Following his death, videos and posts documenting Chivayo's high-profile lifestyle have continued resurfacing online.
The Jacob & Co footage is among those attracting particular attention, but without a statement from the luxury watchmaker, claims that Chivayo left an unpaid watch bill remain unconfirmed.
